Under the supervision of Head- CDE, this position provides leadership, specialised expertise and general support to CARPHA and its member countries in biostatistics, its theory and applications to public health, including epidemiological surveillance and health information systems. It supports the work under the AFD grant that is being executed by the Agency. Work requires in-depth knowledge and application of advanced statistical principles as they relate to biological, epidemiological and public health issues. Under the supervision of Head - CDE, this position plans, conducts and evaluates epidemiological studies and surveillance systems to determine patterns of disease in CARPHA Member States; conducts field investigations of epidemics or outbreaks of diseases; provides technical advice in the prevention and control of NCDs, risk factors and determinants of health; provides direction to Research Analysts in the program area; and performs related duties as required.
