Monitoring

A continuous function of routine data collection on specific indicators to document and measure the extent of progress towards the achievement of programme or project objectives.

Evaluation

Evaluation is the determination of the value of a project, program or policy through a process of rigorous empirical inquiry, usually on the basis of the extent to which its stated objectives have been achieved.

Learning

Information that is interpreted and used for planning and decision-making to improve the direction and focus of a health programme. Relevant data may be derived from various sources and should be analysed holistically and strategically to improve the direction of the programme.
