Caribbean Wellness Day

Caribbean Wellness Day (CWD) is one of the regional responses to the threat posed by non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The day was conceptualised by the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and an integral part of the Port of Spain Declaration. The idea was formalised at a meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on 15 September 2007 on the occasion of a special Regional Summit on Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

Caribbean Mosquito Awareness Week

With the slogan “Fight the bite, destroy mosquito breeding sites”, this first Mosquito Awareness Week, 9-15 May, will focus on Zika and the risks associated with the disease, especially for pregnant women. The annual week was declared at the 17th meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government in November 2014.
