Networks

Caribbean Public Health Laboratory Network (CariPHLN)

CARPHA provides laboratory network coordination and regulation through CariPHLN. The mission of CariPHLN is to integrate public health laboratories in CARPHA Member States (CMS), thereby strengthening the services they provide and enhancing the response to public health emergencies. This includes improving biosafety practices; data management systems; and resource capacity. The network also facilitates timely exchange of information. It allows for the existence of investigations and services that are not always available at a national level.

Caribbean Network of Research Ethics Committee (CANREC)

CANREC, an ethics network established by CARPHA with the cooperation of Research Ethics Committees (RECs) and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) across the CARPHA Member States (CMS). It provides the infrastructure for CMS to cooperate on research and ethics matters. This may include ensuring ethical requirements for research involving human participants are met; monitoring research projects after approval; and providing technical assistance or advice on matters related to research ethics.

Caribbean Vector Borne Diseases Network (CariVecNet)

CariVecNet aims to strengthen collaboration between Caribbean institutions to support the regional response to vector borne diseases (VBDs). It also seeks to promote regional exchanges on surveillance and diagnosis of VBDs. It strives to standardise technologies and training related to VBD control, specifically for the Caribbean region through collaborative research and expert policy recommendations.

Regional Health Communications Network (RHCN)

The RHCN was established in recognition of the critical role of strategic, timely, and effective public health communication and the limited communication resources in many CARPHA Member States (CMS) departments of health. The primary functions of the RHCN are to develop, implement, and monitor communication plans for selected public health topics and to facilitate the exchange of information and communication resources among CMS. The network consists of designated representatives from the Ministries of Health in each CMS, as well as a representative from the CARICOM Secretariat and the OECS Commission.

VigiCarib

VigiCarib is a voluntary regional system for CARICOM states to report medicines related adverse events (adverse drug reactions (ADRs)) and substandard and falsified (SF) products. Medicines safety and monitoring systems are often limited in the individual small states of CARICOM, and the rationale for a regional approach is that with pooling of resources, sharing of information, and coordination of activities, there will be efficiencies of scale that can lead to stronger systems overall.
