As the lead Public Health Agency in the Region, CARPHA mobilised an immediate response to support Jamaica following the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa. CARPHA's Executive Director Dr. Lisa Indar met with several high-level policy makers and sectoral leaders to provide strategic multiprong assessments and response. Dr. Indar provided this statement on CARPHA's efforts on November 4th 2025.
CARPHA intensified support on the ground in Jamaica, assessing the damage from the devastating effects and providing much needed support as part of the multi-sectoral Rapid Needs Assessment Team (RNAT). CARPHA Director Dr. Horace Cox - CARPHA's Incident Commander of the RNAT, along with Mr. Megueal Julien, Epidemiologist, visited several sites deemed Ground Zero to assess the extent of damage and restoration of primary care and emergency services. Dr. Cox provided this update on CARPHA's support efforts on November 4th 2025 and facilitated a radio interview with VOB 92.9 FM which aired on November 6th 2025.
