Caribbean Wellness Day 2022

Caribbean Wellness Day (CWD) is one of the regional responses to the threat posed by non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The day was conceptualised by the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and an integral part of the Port of Spain Declaration. The annual event is geared at increasing awareness and promoting activities to address non-communicable diseases including mental ill health.

The overall theme over the five year-period, 2020 – 2024 has been, “Power Through Collective Action”. The partnering agencies: The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the Health Caribbean Coalition (HCC) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) held discussions over a series of meetings and decided on the subtheme to commemorate the year 2022. In addition to this, the agencies agreed that celebrating this day presented a good opportunity to make a collective call to action for change at the various levels of society, around three areas of focus for the region.
